The Belgian goalkeeper suffered the injury just a day before he was to play in a friendly game against the club's B-team, as he looked to complete his recovery from a torn cruciate ligament in his left knee.
That injury has kept Courtois on the sidelines since August. Although he was expected to be available to play against Athletic Club Bilbao on March 31, now the new injury means he won't play again this season.
"Our player Thibaut Courtois has today had a successful operation on the internal meniscus ligament in right knee under the supervision of the Real Madrid Medical Services. Courtois will complete his recovery process in the coming days," informed the official Real Madrid website.
Real Madrid have also released details of a summer pre-season tour of the United States, with games against AC Milan in Chicago, FC Barcelona in New Jersey and Chelsea in Charlotte (North Carolina), between July 31 and August 6.
